THE Guyana Association of Women Police (GAWP)/Rising Sun Turf Club one-day horserace meet, planned for Sunday, has received a boost with Trophy Stall of Bourda Market and beverage giant Banks DIH Limited being the latest to join the list of sponsors to support the event, which will have over $2M in prize money and other incentives on offer.Trophy Stall has contributed trophies for the top jockey of the five-race meet as well as trophies for the best trainer and best stable.
Banks DIH, on the other hand has contributed cash prizes for one of the events.
The one-day meet will be staged at the club’s facility, Arima Park, Rising Sun, West Coast Berbice and will get underway at 13:00hrs.
In what is anticipated to be a thrilling day of horse-racing, the feature event carries a first prize of $500 000 and a trophy and is open to horses classified `E and Lower’.
A race for `J’ class horses is also on the card and the winner will receive $160 000.
Horses classified `K’ will battle for the first prize worth $140 000 while the winner of the race for `L’ class horses will receive $120 000.
The day’s activity will close off with a race for Guyana-bred two-year-old horses and the winner will collect $100 000.
Other sponsors already on board are: Jumbo Jet, Peter Lewis Associated Construction, BM Soat Auto Sales, Sheriff Racing Stable and Business Entity, Colours Boutique, P&P Insurance Brokers, Bunny Shivraj and Shano and Sons, among others.
