LA PENITENCE, Broad Street, Tucville and Sparta Boss are all through to the next round of the Petra-organised Ministry of Public Health Stop Gender-Based Violence-sponsored fustal tournament.Continuing on Monday evening at the Independence Park (Parade Ground) those teams will move on to the semi-final stage of the tournament.
In game one, Sophia and North East La Penitence played to a one-all draw after Devon Charles’ 29th minute goal cancelled out Dwayne Lowe’s 21st minute shot, sending the game to penalties.
It was North East’s night to shine however, as they came out on top, winning 3-1 on penalties.
In the second game of the night, the Broad Street side were too much for their counterparts Kitty Weavers with score line ending 3-1.
Eon Richardson’s brace (12th and 16th) coupled with Jamal Cozier’s 28th minute strike ensured that Weavers’ Colin Clark 24th minute strike was cancelled out and ultimately overturned.
In the third game, a 5-all draw ensued between Tucville and Globe Yard, leading to the latter winning 6-5 on penalties.
The regulation time scorers for Globe Yard were Delon Lanfeman (3rd, 12th and 27th) and Andrew Murray Jr (9th and 20th) while the Tucville scorers were Denis Edwards (19th and 23rd), Kareem Knights (25th and 28th) and Tefon Daly (22nd).
The final game of the evening saw Sparta Boss trump Queen Street Tiger Bay 5-0 with strikes from Gregory Richardson (8th and 24th), Devon Millington (9th and 20th) and Denise Edwards (30th).
Meanwhile, semifinals action pits Tucville against Broad Street while Sparta Boss will have North East La Penitence to deal with.
