Hope hits century against India for President’s XI

BARBADOS batsman Shai Hope made his case for inclusion in the West Indies team for the upcoming series against India with an outstanding century for the WICB President’s XI on the final day of their two-day match against the visitors at Warner Park, Basseterre, in St Kitts yesterday.Batting at number three Hope, who made an unbeaten 118 shared in a 122-run second-wicket partnership with Guyanese opener Rajendra Chandrika. The Guyanese compiled 69 in 142 balls with 10 boundaries before he was dismissed by leg-spinner Amit Mishra.
Hope then stood as wickets around him tumbled. Other Test hopefuls Jermaine Blackwood, Roston Chase, Vishaul Singh and Shane Dowrich all failing to make an impact.
Blackwood was dismissed by Mishra first-ball after the departure of Chandrika.
Hope, however, found a steady partner in left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican who made an unbeaten 50 batting at number nine. He hit seven boundaries in 102 minutes at the crease where he faced 75 deliveries. The two added an enterprising 104 runs.(Sportsmax.com)
