Gov’t hails Muslims on devotion, sacrifice during month of Ramadan

THE Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana has congratulated all Muslims on their sacrifice, fortitude, resilience, devotion, and spiritual renewal during the month of Ramadan.The Government wishes Eid Mubarak to all Muslims as “we join in celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the completion of the holy month of Ramadan.” In a message, the administration said: ”after a month of spiritual growth through unwavering dedication and sacrifice, our Muslim brothers and sisters not only celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, but also engage in selfless acts of charity and in lending a helping hand in lifting the condition of our less fortunate brothers and sisters. It is the fundamental message of equality and brotherhood which is espoused by Islam.”

According to Government, Eid-ul-Fitr is in essence and practice a day of celebration, reflection, graduation and spiritual elevation. “After an entire month of abstinence and sacrifice, Muslims rejoice in the month past, engendering the deepening of brotherhood among all mankind and in the elevation of the spirit and soul and the strengthening of faith.

“May the day be filled with warm and enjoyable celebrations and festivities, and may the lessons of Ramadan be practised and embraced all year, as we rally together and strive as a nation to elevate the condition of all Guyanese.”
