ACTION in the Guinness Greatest in the Street East Coast leg will climax this evening at the Haslington tarmac when semi-final and final action get underway.In the first semi-final, Sparta Boss will take on Wisroc while in the second semi-final Team 25 will go toe-to-toe against the Channel 9 squad. The winners of those respective games will meet in the final later that evening.
Wednesday evening’s first-round matches, Wisroc held North Ruimveldt to a 1-1 draw before winning 5-4 on sudden-death kicks. Wisroc’s scorer was Clarence Huggins (15th) while North Ruimveldt saw Travis Grant (20th) score their goal.
In game two, Kemo Lawrence (6th) and Dennis Edwards (13th) were on target in Channel 9 Warriors 2-0 victory over Showstoppers while BV-B and Team 25 played to a 1-goal stalemate; the later winning 3-2 on penalty kicks
Sparta Boss were the most decisive winners in that round as a strike each from Gregory Richardson (3rd), Dennis Edwards (9th), Sheldon Shepherd (11th) and Roberto Osbourne (14th) helped them beat Stewartville 4-1. Dwayne Charles (17th) was Stewartville’s scorer.
In the second round, Wisroc eased past Showstoppers 1-0 thanks to Clarence Huggins (20th) while the Channel 9 Warriors had Joshua Fiffee (4th) and Kemo Lawrence (7th) on target in their 2-0 conquest of North Ruimveldt.
The same scoreline applied to Team 25 as they beat Stewartville Gunners 2-0 with a goal each from Quacey Johnson (2nd) and Keron Smith (20th) while Sparta Boss’ 4-0 result over BV-B saw braces from Devon Millington (11th and 12th) and Gregory Richardson (13th and 14th). (Stephan Sookram)
