THE body of Barbara Hunte, who went missing after the boat in which she was travelling capsized in the Puruni River on Saturday, has been found by the police on Monday afternoon.‘F’ Division Commander Rabindradat Budhram said the body will be transported to the City for a post-mortem examination.
The boat was at the time transporting mining workers to Cuyuni, Region Seven, when it capsized. It was reported that Hunte had some difficulty and went under shortly after she fell overboard in the rough waters.
Hunte, 48, of ‘D’ Field, Sophia, was going to take up her new job as a cook, commonly called a ‘bahir’, in the interior location when tragedy struck.
It is uncertain whether Hunte had been a swimmer, but some persons were rescued. Efforts to locate her relatives on Monday were unsuccessful.
