Several teams register wins on Night 3 of Petra/MOH football

A TOTAL of 24 goals were scored on the third night of action in the Petra organised Ministry of Health’s Stop Gender-based violence football competition on Friday night.In the first game, Campbellville succumbed to Channel 9 Warriors by a 4-1 margin after successful braces from Joshua Fiffee (15th and 17th) and Ken Wilson (20th and 30th), while the loser’s goal came from Adolph George
In game two, Laing Avenue could not get the better of West backroad as their game ended 1-1. West backroad’s goal came from Odel Williams in the 7th while Roy Cassou in the 22nd struck for Laing Avenue.
Game three saw the same result with Leopold street scoring in the one- goal stalemate due to Rondel Williams (12th minute), while their opponents, North Ruimveldt saw Anthony Sancho (25th) equalise.
Holmes Street Tiger Bay railroaded Sparta boss 4-2, thanks to braces from Akeem Saul (12th and 18th) and (Jamal Blackman-2nd and 23rd) while Sparta’s goals came from Eusi Phillips (13th) and Sheldon Shepherd (30th).
The hosts Ministry of Public Health also succumbed to Queen Street Tiger Bay 0-2 with the latter winning from Darren Harris’s 2nd minute and Andre Kerr’s 22nd minute strikes.
The Kitty vs Globe Yard fixture ended 5-3 in favour of the former as Terrance Lewis (5th and 27th), Alpha Sylvester (6th and 30th) and Nigel Denny (17th) ensured they outscored their opponents.
Globe Yard had Leon Richardson (18th, 21st and 23rd) on the scoresheet.
After three nights of action, Group A is led by Channel 9 Warriors (6 points) while Campbellville sits second and Group B sees Kitty (6 points) leading Globe Yard.
Group C has Sophia (3) leading Holmes Street Tiger Bay (3) on a +2 goal difference while Group D has Queen Street Tiger Bay (6 points heading the charts over West Front Road.
Group E has Leopold Street atop the table with four points, while North Ruimveldt has two points; Tucville leads group F with three points and a positive goal difference of three.
Meanwhile, matches continue tonight with Sophia taking on California Square after which West Front Road plays Broad Street, Tucville Plays Albouystown, Festival City takes on Alexander Village, North-East La Penitence plays Young Ballers and Bent Street takes on Cross Street, Werk-en-Rust.
Games will take place from 19:00hrs at Cuffy Square.
