POINTS leaders in the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) STAG Elite League, Slingerz will face Pele, while Fruta Conquerors take on Alpha United tomorrow when semi-final action in the league starts at the Leonora Sports Facility.In the opening game, Slingerz will tackle Pele from 18:00hrs and in the feature match, Fruta Conquerors face Alpha United.
According to a release, the GFF has made arrangements with a bus company to provide services to persons wishing to travel to the Leonora facility to witness the matches and this will cost each person $600 for the return trip.
The assembly point is Square of the Revolution, Homestretch Avenue and Vlissengen Road.
The first bus departs at 18:30hrs, while the next bus leaves the location at 19:00hrs.
In the last two matches of the preliminary round, Fruta Conquerors edged Pele 2-1 to occupy second position in STAG Elite League, while GFC registered their first win of the League with a 2-1 win after 14 matches. They, however, remain at the bottom of the points table with a mere five points.
The North Ruimveldt-based team Fruta Conquerors came from one goal down after Julian Joseph sent Pele into the lead with a 30th minute goal. Fruta Conquerors equalised compliments of Jahall Greaves’ 71st minute goal and another from Jermey Cornette two minutes later.
The win for Fruta Conquerors took them to 34 points where they occupy second place going into tomorrow’s semi-final.
In the preliminary round, Slingerz led the points standing with 40 points from 13 victories and one draw.
They scored 43 goals and conceded a mere eight for a goal difference of plus 35.
Fruta Conquerors registered 34 points from their 14 games having won 11, lost two and drew one. They recorded 34 goals conceded 22.
Alpha United ended third in the preliminary round with 30 points from nine victories, two losses and three drawn games. They scored 36 goals and conceded 11.
Pele ended with a goal difference of minus five.
