Romario Henry, 21, of Lot 12 ‘C’ Herstelling, East Bank Demerara appeared Wednesday before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, charged with stealing a Toyota motor car.

The Security officer attached to Cool Square Hotel, pleaded guilty to the offence, which stated that on June 7 at Georgetown, he stole Mahindra Danpaul’s car valued at $1.6M.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Neville Jeffers, said that Danpaul had parked his car at Middle Road, La Penitence with the key inside and exited. Henry jumped into the car and drove away.

The matter was immediately reported to Police, who acting on a tip-off, intercepted the car along with Henry in Albouystown.

Henry had told the court that he took the man’s car and was going to visit his aunt in Berbice.
