THE Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) has launched the official website of the 2016 CBC U-16 Championship, www.guyana2016.com. The site will have the most current and complete information about this year’s FIBA qualifying Championship in the Caribbean.
Information on all participating national teams, including their full rosters, exhibition game results and history of the teams and players in international competitions.
Among other details present on the site, there will be details of the event, including information about the host city – Georgetown, travel advice, tickets, hotels for media and fans, media accreditation and all relevant information as it relates to the championship.
The website is set to provide comprehensive coverage throughout the Championship, with news, live stats, leaders, game reports, photos, video highlights, exclusive interviews, and a live broadcast of all games.
Also revealed was the Official Logo for the 2016 CBC U-16 Championships for Men and Women (Guyana2016) by the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) and the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation. The logo was designed by P2H2 Solutions and captures Guyana’s National Animal the Jaguar as part of Guyana’s Golden Jubilee celebration.
The CBC Championship will be held from July 14 to 19 for Men and July 12 to 16 for Women in Georgetown, Guyana.
The Championship will field the men’s national teams from Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Jamaica, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and the hosts Guyana, along with the women’s national teams from the Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and the hosts Guyana fighting for three spots in the 2017 Centrobasket U-17 Championship for Men and Women.
The Cliff Anderson Sports Hall will host 42 basketball games over eleven days, culminating with the Championship finals to crown both a men’s and women’s U-16 champion.
At the last CBC U-16 Championship held in St John, Antigua in 2008, the Bahamas won the championship for Men and Women.
