FORMER British soldier, Edward John Constant, Wednesday identified the man who robbed him, and the suspected is expected to face the court today. Constant, 70, on Friday robbed while sightseeing around the Stabroek Market. He was in Guyana at the time of independence in May 1966 and had vowed to return for the 50th anniversary celebrations, which is why he is currently in Guyana.
He was called in for an identification parade at the Brickdam Police station, where he identified the man whom he said attacked him.
The thief carted off Constant’s gold chain to which was attached a diamond-crested ring which belonged to his late wife, which he deemed priceless.
Meanwhile, Constant is continuing his tour of Guyana, and Wednesday spent time with children at the David Rose School.
