CG bandits nabbed after gunpoint robbery at Atlantic Ville

TWO off-duty policemen, with the assistance of public-spirited citizens, nabbed two CG bandits soon after they had robbed a woman at gunpoint as she was walking into her Atlantic Ville, East Coast Demerara home Thursday afternoon.Divisional Commander, Marlon Chapman confirmed the robbery and disclosed that two persons are in police custody assisting with investigations.

According to reports, the two men, who used a CG motorcycle, traced Marilyn Burning from a city bank and held her at gunpoint while she was entering her home. The victim raised an alarm and put up a struggle, but the bandit with the gun relieved her of a bag with cash.

However, as the men were making their escape, neighbouring residents who had responded to the alarm, including two off-duty policemen, confronted the assailants and retrieved the bag with the money. The cash has since been handed over to the police.

The two men have been arrested and are in police custody. A .32 Taurus pistol, along with nine rounds were recovered by the police, who have also seized the motorcycle.
