TOP riders will today vie for supremacy when the Golden Jubilee three-stage cycle road race event rolls off in Berbice. The first leg is scheduled to pedal off this morning at the 07:30hrs from the Corriverton Police Station and finish at New Amsterdam. (46.6 Miles) (75km).
Of the 19 open races completed for the year, the Team Gillette Evolution has picked up 16 wins which gives them the tag of favourites during this year’s championship.
Defending champion Orville Hinds who won last year’s event in six hours, 50 minutes and 37 seconds is again back in action.
Meanwhile, the second stage starts at 14:00hrs from Rosignol and will proceed to CARIFESTA Avenue, Georgetown for the finish. (60.4 Miles) (97.1km).
For the final stage tomorrow, the event starts at Kara Kara, Linden at 08:00hrs and concludes at Homestretch Avenue in Georgetown. (64.5 Miles) (103.3km).
According to the organisers, nine riders from Anguilla will be a part of the Jubilee event which has attracted over 50 participants.
