THE Enterprise Progressive Youth Organisation (PYO) has hosted a grand Arrival Day programme at the Enterprise Primary School, East Coast Demerara (ECD).Recognising that the current generation is indebted to continue the great legacy brought to this land, the decision was made to last Thursday organise such an event, it was communicated to this publication.

Group president Suresh Persaud told the Guyana Chronicle that, prior to the programme, a small parade was organised around a few streets in the community. That parade attracted a large number of elders, who willingly joined in with “love and determination”, as they celebrated the historical event in the community.

“The programme was dominated mainly by patrons from Enterprise, including members of the Enterprise PYO Group, singer Arjune Boodhoo (President of Enterprise Vishnu Mandir), Uncle Kishore (one of the oldest tabla players in our country), Pandit Suresh Singh, Mr Inshaan Alli, Mr Purai, and many other local artistes,” the PYO president said.

More than 300 persons enjoyed food and drinks at the event, while 100 hampers were distributed to elderly persons in attendance.

“The strength in the hearts of the residents has made this productive village what it is today,” Persaud declared. “In that light, praise must be given to all residents, and I am very confident that we will continue to work harder to bring this shining community a much brighter light,” he said.

The group has expressed gratitude to the Buxton/Foulis Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC); the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica); the Ministry of Education’s Department of Culture, Youth and Sport; a few kind-hearted business persons; and especially all those who came out to make the historical event a grand success.
