KLAY Thompson put up game-high points, while Draymond Green had a triple-double in game one on Sunday.No Stephen Curry but no worries for defending champions the Golden State Warriors, who opened their Western Conference semi-final series against the Portland Trail Blazers with a 118-106 win.
Reigning NBA MVP Curry sat out the first game of the best-of-seven matchup as he recovers from a sprained right knee, but Klay Thompson and Draymond Green came up big for the Warriors in Oakland on Sunday.
Thompson posted a game-high 37 points, making history in the process for the Warriors – who were inspired by a 37-17 first quarter.
With seven three-pointers, Thompson became the first player in NBA history to make at least seven shots from beyond the arc in three consecutive play-off games.
As for Green, he had his second career play-off triple-double via 23 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists at Oracle Arena.
Andrew Bogut contributed a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds, numbers replicated by Warriors team-mate Harrison Barnes.
The Blazers, who saw off the Los Angeles Clippers in their first-round play-off series on Friday, were led by Damian Lillard’s 30 points.
Game two is in Oakland today.
