A THIRD suspect has been apprehended as investigations continue into the murder of 52-year-old Parika businessman Seeram Singh, called “Brother See”, of Lot 40, Parika Outfall, East Bank Essequibo, who died last Saturday night from multiple injuries sustained in an altercation, including a gunshot wound to the head.On the very night that the father of five had been slain, detectives had picked up a female neighbour with whom he had had an intimate relationship. Another person from the area was arrested on Sunday as investigations continue. A third person has since been arrested.
Relatives are adamant that robbery was not the motive for the killing. One resident noted that half an hour before Singh had been shot, the female neighbour had been overheard on her cellphone telling someone: “I would stand right here and see you dead.” It was also noted that strange persons had been seen in the area during the day of the murder.

Reports are that Seeram Singh, a fuel dealer, had arrived home at 21:30hrs on Saturday, and had parked his vehicle within his yard when he received a cellphone call that caused him to open his gate and walk a stone’s throw from his residence.

A lone gunman allegedly approached the businessman and began stabbing him about the body. Singh put up a fight, but was shot repeatedly. The gunman then reportedly placed his foot on the businessman’s chest and shot him in the head before ripping two gold chains from his neck and fleeing the scene.

At the time of the incident, Singh was allegedly wearing three gold chains, two hand bands and three finger rings.

Singh was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A .32 live round and a bullet casing of similar calibre were found at the scene.
