A gunman was shot dead Sunday night by a shopkeeper during an attempted robbery at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.

The dead bandit has been identified as 32-year-old Raphael Armstrong known as ‘Scar’ of Friendship, East Bank Demerara. According to the police, at about 20:00hrs, Armstrong, who was armed with an unlicensed firearm and another man entered the home of the shopkeeper and confronted him and his son.

Reports indicate that a scuffle ensued between the shopkeeper Raphael Armstrong during which the firearm fell to the ground. At this time, the shopkeeper retrieved the weapon and shot el Armstrong to his body, while his accomplice fled.

Armstrong was pronounced dead on arrivgal at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre and the unlicensed firearm has been handed over to the police who are conducting investigations.
