—GFC to face Alpha, Monedderlust tackle Pele tonight

SLINGERZ Football Club continued their winning ways with a 2-1 win against the Guyana Defence Force, while Fruta Conquerors recorded a similar margin of victory against Buxton United when the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) STAG Elite League continued on Friday evening at the Buxton Recreational ground on Friday evening.Yudan Mills netted a double for Slingerz in the 10th and 55th minutes, while Clifford Garraway responded for the Guyana Defence Force in the 16th minute.
The win for Slingerz takes them to 27 points in the points standing from nine games, having won all nine of their matches to date. They have so far scored 24 goals and conceded four for a goal difference of plus 24.
GDF on the other hand has 23 points from nine matches. They have so far won four of their matches while losing three and drawing two. They so far have scored 14 goals and conceded a similar amount for a goal difference of zero and is currently on 14 points.
In the feature match on Friday evening, Hubert Pedro and Eon Alleyne netted for Fruta Conquerors in the 75th and 79th minutes respectively for the North Ruimveldt-based Fruta Conquerors, while Clive Andries opened the scoring for Buxton in the 43rd minute.
The victory for Fruta Conquerors takes them to 23 points from their nine matches. They have won seven of their nine matches, lost one and drawn one. They have so far scored 22 goals and conceded 10 to have a goal difference of plus 10.
Buxton United on the other hand have five points from their nine matches. They won one, lost six and drew two and have so far scored six goals and conceded 14, for a goal difference of minus eight.
Going into tonight’s games, which will be played at the Georgetown Football Club ground, Monedderlust will face Pele from 16:30hrs and homesters GFC will take on Alpha United from 21:00hrs.
Monerdderlust is currently on six points from eight matches. They have so far won a single game while losing four and drawing three. They have so far scored five goals and conceded 16 and has a goal difference of minus 11.
Pele on the other hand have seven points from two victories, five losses and one draw. Like Monedderlust, they have so far scored five goals but conceded 12, for a goal difference of minus 12.
Alpha United is currently on 14 points from four victories, two losses and two drawn games. They have 18 goals to their credit and have so far conceded eight for a goal difference of plus 10, while GFC is yet to win a game after losing seven and drawing just one. They have six goals to their name and conceded 22, for a goal difference of minus 22.
