THE Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has confirmed the fixtures for the Hand-in-Hand Insurance Company Under-19 Inter-County Cricket Competitions.The three-day version of the tournament is set to commence tomorrow, with a Select Under-17 team confirmed to be a part of the tournament.
According to the fixtures, the Select Under-17 team will play Demerara at Wales, while Berbice will face Essequibo at Enterprise in round one.
Round two is set to commence on April 17; Demerara will challenge Berbice at Everest, while the Select Under-17 team will oppose Essequibo at DCC.
The third and final round is billed for April 21 when Essequibo will face Demerara at GCC, and Berbice do battle with the Select Under-17 team at Wales.
The team with the most points after the three rounds will be declared the winners.
Meanwhile, the one-day version will commence on April 25, with the same number of teams participating.
In the first round Demerara will clash with Essequibo at Wales, while the Select Under-17 team will face Berbice at Enterprise.
The second round will be played on April 27. Berbice will confront Demerara at Wales and Essequibo face the Select Under-17 at Everest.
The third round will be contested on April 29. Demerara will take on the Select Under-17 team at Bourda, while Berbice will play Essequibo at DCC.
After the three preliminary rounds, the two leading teams will clash in the final on May 1 at GCC.
Players eligible to participate in both tournaments must have been born on or after September 1, 1997.
The competition is being used as a yardstick by the junior selectors to pick the Guyana team for the West Indies Cricket Board’s Regional Under-19 competition scheduled for later this year.
