Post-mortem today for toddler killed by speeding car

A POST-MORTEM examination is scheduled for today on the body of the three-year-old who was struck down by a car at Haslington, East Coast Demerara on Easter Monday.Ashton Sears was reportedly on his way to the Haslington seawall for an Easter outing with his family members when he was hit by the car. It is believed that he died on the spot, as a gaping wound was visible on his head and he was picked up motionless.

The driver of the car involved in the accident is still in custody of police in ‘C’ Division, as investigations continue. The police have said that charges are likely to be made sometime after the post-mortem report has been submitted.
Reports are that the child was with his parents: Samantha Murphy and Kevin Sears, and two other siblings at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
