Hinds wins easily to continue dominance in National Park programmes

Team Evolution’s Orville Hinds continued his dominance of the National Park cycle programmes by registering his second consecutive victory in as many weekends when he won the 3rd Annual Star Party Rentals feature 35-lap race at the venue yesterday.Hinds who won the Diamond Mineral Water sponsored feature 35-lap race last Saturday at the National Park, followed up yesterday to win the Star Party Rentals event over the same distance in a time of one hour, 16 minutes 31.71 seconds.
While he (Hinds)dominated the latter stages, his efforts was not enough to prevent his team mate Michael Anthony, the eventual second place finisher from capturing all eight of the prime prizes that were up for grabs.
The other top four places were occupied by Junior Niles, Akee4m Wilkinson, Paul Cho Wee-Nam and Mark Harris respectively.
Hinds’ performance eclipsed the time set by last year’s winner Hamza Eastman who clocked one hour 17 minutes 34.27 seconds for the same course and distance.
From the start of the race, Hinds went to the front along with Raphael Leung, but after the first lap w3as completed, Anthony joined the duo and subsequently surged ahead, opening a sizeable gap.
It was not until the 20th of the 35-lap event was completed that Hinds broke from the main chasing pack that included Cho-Wee-Nam, Raymond Newton, Junior Niles, Akeem Wilkinson and Kemuel Mosess that Hinds connected to Anthony, and the team mates worked in tandem and opened an unsurpassable lead to the end.
Coming to the finish line, Hinds jumped Anthony from approximately 200 metres from the finish and though Anthony tried to fight back, his efforts were unsuccessful.
In the race for the other top four places, Niles attacked the main chasing pack with about 125 metres remaining, and opened an approximately six bicycle lengths ahead of Wilkinson which he maintained to the end.
In other results, Raphael Leung returned 26 minutes 18.85 seconds in winning the 10-lap race for juveniles. His time was much slower than last year’s winner Andrew Hicks who had clocked 22 minutes 34.89 seconds.
Briton John was second and Deeraj Garbarran finished third.
Keon Thomas who stopped the clock at 15 minutes 14.87 seconds in winning the five-lap event for mountain bikers last year, made a successful defence of his title yesterday by winning in a time of 11 minmutes 55 seconds. Richard Charles and Ozia McAually placed second and third respectively.
Shay Sue Hand won the two lap race for BMX boys 6-9 years old ahead of Ajanil Culley and Aqueala Lerwis respectively.
The veterans’ over 50 five-lap race was won by Raymond Newton. Linden Blackman placed second and Tosloys Congrives third.
Niles won the five-lap race for veterans under 50 years of age. Warren McKay was second and Marc Sonoram third.
Jeremiha Harrisonb was the winner of the BMX boys three-lap race. Second was Zab james and finishing third was Shay Sue Hang.
Harrison however had to settle for third in the 12-14 BMX boys’ three-lap race which was won by Adealie Hodge ahead of Tarran Garbarran.
