.. Taylor in 400m final
Parker Devine of the British Virgin Islands is the fastest through to the final of the Girls Under-18 100 metres at the 2016 Carifta Games in Grenada yesterday.

Devine won Heat 4 but will be challenged by Heat 2 winner Kenisha Phillips of Guyana (11.82) and Jamaica’s Kimone Shaw (11.83). Shaw ran a personal best 11.40 at the 2016 ISSA-GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girs’ Champs 2016 last week Friday.
Also in the finals is St Lucia’s Alfred Julien from St Lucia, who came away from Champs 2016 in Jamaica with a pair of silver medals. Julien advanced to the finals with a time of 11.89s, winning Heat 3 in the process.
Joella Lloyd of Antigua and Barbuda (11.85), Jessie Zali (11.86) from Martinique, Michae Harriott (11.95) from Jamaica and Kaelle Bourguignon from Guadeloupe are also through to the finals.
Earlier in the day, the host country’s Amanda Crawford was fastest through to the finals of the Under-18 Girls 400m. Crawford clocked 54.88 seconds to be fractions quicker than Jamaica’s Stacy-Ann Williams (55.05) and Bahamas’ Britni Fountain 55.43s.
Also through were Judine Lacey of the BVI, 56.56, Sanique Walker of Jamaica, 55.60s, Avon Samuels of Guyana, 55.91, Tiana Bowen of Barbados, 56.34s, and Shafiqua Maloney of St Vincent and the Grenadines, 56.51s.
In the boys’ equivalent, 2015 World Youth Champion Christopher Taylor easily advanced to the finals with a time of 49.60s.
Taylor, who has a personal best 45.27s, was one of three automatic qualifiers that also included Martinique’s Wardhy Harpon 49.67 and Barbados’ Antoni Hoyte-Small 48.55s.
The remaining qualifiers were Colby Jennings from Turks and Caicos (49.80), Kaze Poitier of the Bahamas (49.82), Daniel Williams of Guyana (48.72) and Onal Mitchell of Trinidad and Tobago (49.21).
