SHANNON Crawford made his First Class debut as an on-field umpire yesterday at the start of the final round West Indies Cricket Board’s Professional Cricket League (PCL) Four-Day game at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, yesterday between Guyana Jaguars and Jamaica Scorpions.Reacting on his progress, a visibly delighted Crawford, who is also president of the Demerara Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association (DCUSA), told Chronicle Sport that he is elated at the progress he has made.
“I am very happy; it has been a long hard road but having said that I am up to the challenge,” Crawford said.
He added, “The feeling was good despite the level of cricket which is much more different to what I am accustomed to, but it’s all about going out and believing in your ability and putting out a high standard of officiating.”
Crawford hopes this is just the beginning and a stepping stone for his dreams in officiating at the highest level.
