THE Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Monday swore in its new board members, which includes its chairman, Dr Max Hanoman.The ceremony, held at the facility’s Resource Centre, saw the installation of the new members along with the election of the board’s chairman. The members of the board are Col. Patrick West, Cleopatra Barkoye, Collette Adams (Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health), Mandy Sukhdeo, Sonya Roopnauth, Kempton Alexander, along with Dr. Sheik Amir and Allan Johnson as Ex-Officio Members.
The board voted Dr. Hanoman in as the new chairman. Dr. Hanoman said there will definitely be a lot of changes at the facility. This will begin with the computerisation of the hospital aand patients’ records, which he said should be deemed a priority. This was strongly supported by both the Public Health Minister and the board members.
Further, the new Chairman said, individuals can expect improved care and services, along with better attitude from staff. He also expressed hope for cooperation among members.
Addressing the Board members, Minister within the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Karen Cummings, said she is expecting a lot of changes at the facility, and that the public should “expect great things.”
The Minister also urged the board to continue to monitor the progress of all undertakings, and to ensure that while the standards are being improved, they are also maintained. (GINA)
