Deokie hyped after pre-season testing

MECHANICS and drivers alike are thrown into high gear for this weekend’s first National Race of Champions 2016 and many are on the homestretch of having their machines ready for action. One such competitor is group one’s Daniel Deokie, who is hyped after completing one of his many preseason tests yesterday at the South Dakota Circuit and according to him, everything is moving to plan.
“Preparations are coming along just fine; we did some testing last week on the car and got some positive results. From a driver’s perspective there is always room for improvement and I’m never too old to learn; and with the car there is definitely room for improvement,” contended Deokie.
He noted that with the rule change allowing for additional parts, inclusive of final drives, gearbox ratios and tuneable Engine Control Unit (ECU), the coming year will see him advance his Honda Civic.
The Civic pilot added, “I’m looking to bring my confidence over from last November meet so I could start the 2016 season off on a high.”
“It wouldn’t be an easy task at all to pull off wins (on Sunday) knowing there are numerous skilled and talented drivers in my group, but having close competition is good. That’s the only way it makes you a better driver,” said the group one driver.
His Red Civic is sponsored by Fitness 53 Gym, Toucan Industry, GUYOIL, AAA Girls (Annette, Andrea, Amin) and team ER Racing.
GTT and Fly Jamaica are the main sponsors of the Championship to date and admission fees have been set at $500 per child and $1 000 per adult.
Race-time is 09:30hrs on Sunday.
