T20 World Cup begins today

 

DHAKA: The eight-team men’s qualifying round of the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 begins today in Nagpur.The ICC World Twenty20 2016 will be held at eight venues in the next 26 days. Sixteen men’s teams and ten women’s teams will go head-to-head to determine the world champions in the format with much entertainment.
Bangladesh men’s team left the capital for India yesterday while Bangladesh Women will depart Dhaka for India today to participate in the ICC World Twenty20 2016.
Although the Bangladesh men’s team will play in the qualifying round for a berth in final round, the Bangladesh women’s will directly play in the 10-team final round taking on hosts Indian on March 15 in Bengaluru.
Bangladesh Women were put in Group B of the World T20 with England, India, Pakistan and West Indies.
In the men’s competition, Hong Kong will play Zimbabwe at 15:30hrs (BST) while Afghanistan will face Scotland at 20:00hrs (BST) in Group B matches, both at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha in Nagpur.
Bengal Tigers will start their World Cup campaign against Netherlands in Group A opener of the men’s group at 15:30hrs (BST) at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, while Ireland will play Oman at 20:00hrs (BST) at the same venue.
In the remaining group A matches, Bangladesh will play Ireland on March 11 and meet Oman on March 13, both at Dharamsala.
Eight teams, split into two groups will initially compete in the first round qualifiers for the two top spots of the groups to play in the 10-team final round, which will begin on March 15, both at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
