A ‘C’ Field Sophia resident was shot dead in the wee hours this morning, after he attempted to rob a security guard and his sister in Campbellville, Georgetown.

The man has been identified as Isaiah Marks, who was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital. According to a police report, at about 02:00 hrs on Monday, Carl Haynes, who is attached to a private security company, was walking along Second Street, Campbellville, accompanied by his sister Rayon Haynes, 26 years, when they were held up by a man armed with a firearm.

They resisted and the armed man pulled the trigger of his firearm, but the weapon snapped. As such, Haynes pulled out his service firearm and shot the perpetrator. The unlicensed .32 revolver has been recovered by the police as the investigations continue.
