THE penultimate day of the round-robin stage in the Petra-organised Milo Under-20 Schools Football Tournament saw only Christ Church and Bishops’ High score wins yesterday at the Ministry of Education Ground (MoE), Carifesta Avenue.Match one was a walkover that went in Richard Ishmael’s favour, given to them by Sir Leon’s Lessons who withdrew from the event.
In the match that followed, Brad Evans piloted Christ Church to a 4 – 0 win over Carmel Secondary. Evans put his side ahead in the 22nd minute, then doubled the lead five minutes later with another goal.
Waynewright Adams made it a three-possession game in the 30th minute, while Shamar Carrington scored the only second-half goal in the 56th minute.
Bishops’ High commanded the match against Central High to take a 3 – 1 victory. They led 2 – 0 at the half after Lloyd Anderson and Shamar Britton found the back of the net in the 12th and 21st minutes, respectively.
Romeo Bradford accounted for the third goal in the 58th minute, two minutes before James Walcott scored a consolation goal for Central.
School of the Nations and South Ruimveldt romped to a 1 – 1 draw after battling to a goalless first half. Lyndon Dorway in the 43rd put Nations ahead, but South Ruimveldt equalised through Junior Thomas in the 56th minute and the see-saw battle continued without the deadlock being broken.
Today, six more teams will return to the same venue as proceedings get under way at 11.00hrs.St. George’s will take on Tutorial Secondary,.Queenstown challenges St. John’s in match two from 12:30 hrs, then the penultimate match will see Charlestown and Freeburg face off from 14:00 hrs. Mae’s and St. Roses will contest the final match of the round-robin stage from 15:30 hrs. This event is organised by the Petra organisation
