FAST bowler Ronsford Beaton took 5-43 to give the Guyana Jaguars a slight edge at the end of day one of the eighth round of the WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL) Regional 4-Day Tournament against Windward Islands Volcanoes at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.The Jaguars, the reigning champions were 44-2 at the close, still 172 runs behind the Volcanoes first-innings total of 216.
Opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Assad Fudadin are the not-out batsmen on 21 and one respectively. Test opener Rajendra Chandrika (17) and nightwatchman Devendra Bishoo (0) were the batsmen dismissed in the Jaguars reply.
Earlier opener Devon Smith (87) and Jelani Robinson (57) were the only two batsmen with substantial scores for the Volcanoes.
Raymon Reifer (2-42) Bishoo (1-29), Veerasammy Permaul (1-36) and Keon Joseph (1-51) supported Beaton in a total bowling effort.
Meanwhile, scores from the other two games: Barbados Pride replying to Jamaica Scorpions first-innings total of 177 were 103-3, and Trinidad and Tobago Red Force were 7-0, replying to Leeward Islands Hurricanes 225.
