Magistrate Judy Latchman this morning granted 100,000 bail each to 40 – year – old Kwame McCoy, 24 – year – old Jason Abdulla and 51 – year – old Sean Hinds, who were jointly charged with assaulting Freddie Kissoon in 2010, by throwing faeces in his face.
The Magistrate granted bail to the PPP activists after the Prosecution had no objections but requested that conditions be applied to their pretrial liberty. They were then ordered to lodge their travel documents, report to the police at CID every Monday morning at 09:00 hrs and stay away from the virtual complainant.

McCoy is identified as the #1 accused, Abdulla the #2 accused and Hinds the #3accused. The Court was told that McCoy does not have a passport as he misplaced it while in the process of relocating.
The Magistrate then requested that the lawyer for the accused produce the documents to prove that the passport was reported lost. McCoy would not able to receive bail if that document is not produced today.
While McCoy was represented by Latchmie Rahamat and Abdulla by Glenn Hanoman, Hinds was unrepresented. They are to return to court on March 11. Meanwhile the lawyers said they would prefer that the matter be tried by the High Court before a judge and jury.
They claimed that the media reports prior to the appearance of the trio would influence the court. As such, Magistrate Latchman said that on March 11 the court would be in a position to determine if the matter would be tried in the High Court or the Magistrate Court.
On May 24, 2010, Kissoon had just emerged from Nigel’s Supermarket on Robb Street, Georgetown around 19:00 hours and had already entered his vehicle when a man walked up to him and threw the faeces in his face. Kissoon managed to drive behind the perpetrator, who ran north along Light Street then west into North Road before jumping into a waiting white AT 192 Toyota Carina motorcar and escaped.
A soiled Kissoon tried to intercept the car but backed off to avoid a collision. Meanwhile, police sources revealed that PPP/C Press and Publicity Officer McCoy has been identified as the alleged mastermind behind the attack on Kissoon.
Hinds had provided security services to a number of PPP personalities, while Abdulla also worked at the then Office of the President and is now a functionary at the PPP’s Freedom Radio housed at the party’s headquarters on Robb Street, Georgetown.
