THE Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) on Friday received a cheque for an undisclosed sum from Ansa McAl Trading Ltd in support of the upcoming Smalta National Youth and Junior Track and Field Championships, set to go off on February 27 -28 at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora,West Coast Demerara.In a simple handing-over ceremony y at Olympic House, High Street,Georgetown, the AAG received the cheque from Ansa McAl representative Anjeta Hinds, who expressed the company’s elation at once again being a part of the event, which will give a final chance to those athletes hopeful of making the Guyana team to the CARIFTA Games.

“There is nothing more important in this world than developing our youth in a positive manner and we look forward to giving our young champions the opportunity to show off their amazing skills and excelling; and we can only expect greater things from them.”
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the association, AAG President, Aubrey Hutson, thanked the company for once again supporting not just the event, but the athletes who look forward to the event.
“Again, Ansa McAL has come on board to sponsor this event in a major way and we thank them for the support they have shown to the AAG and to the development of our youths in athletics,” Hutson said
Hutson pointed out that “These athletes are highly ranked at the senior level and as junior athletes they are really and truly doing great for themselves.”
He added that “With Smalta on board now we are able to host a better tournament and we only hope that the athletes continue to support the brand, since we know what Smalta can do for you as an athlete.”
