Republic Bank honours top academic performers

REPUBLIC Bank (Guyana) Ltd yesterday held its Achievement Awards Ceremony to honour the top performers for 2015 at the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA), Caribbean Secondary Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE).The Bank also honoured the Best Graduating students with a Bachelor’s Degree in the Faculty of Social Sciences and a Diploma in Banking and Finance from the University of Guyana.

The special presentation ceremony was held at the Bank’s Head Office, New Market Street, Georgetown where monetary gifts, plaques and tokens were presented to the five awardees.
The recipients of the 2015 awards were:
* Solomon Cherai (NGSA)
* Victoria Najab (CSEC)
* Cecil Cox (CAPE)
* Ashley Bankay (Bachelor’s Degree in the Faculty of Social Sciences) and
* Sabrina Bacchus (Diploma in Banking and Finance)
With youth development being one of the Bank’s primary focuses, many initiatives are undertaken on an ongoing basis. Rewarding academic excellence, on-the-job training, providing tools for career development and promoting personal growth through music are just a few of the activities undertaken by the Bank. These awards form part of the Bank’s social investment initiative ‘Power to Make a Difference, Igniting the Power to Learn and Succeed’.
Among those attending the ceremony were representatives from the Ministry of Education and the University of Guyana, along with the principals and class teachers of the respective schools attended by the awardees for NGSA, CSEC and CAPE.
The Bank extended heartfelt congratulations to the five recipients and those who assisted them on their journey towards academic excellence.
