ALMOST three months after the old Endeavour (East Leguan) Primary School was torn down, a new concrete structure is almost completed. 

According to Government Councillor on the island, Dr Kamal Roy Narine, through consultation with parents and members of the community, a new school was built.
“It’s also an encouragement for the students and children,” Dr Narine said. “The school is now placed more to the back, so that the playground is at the front. Hopefully, the upcoming budget will expend funds for the painting of the school, tiling of the floor, electricity and the roof needs gutters,” the councillor explained.
He said further that 52 students are being accommodated at the Leguan Community Centre for classes along with six teachers. Dr Narine said, “This school is a prime example that this government is showing the people of Leguan that things are being done for their wellbeing.”
He noted also that since the APNU+AFC Government was elected to office, three bridges were constructed in three villages: Endeavor, Blenheim and Enterprise La Bagatelle.
“This island can be a paradise for tourists and Guyanese to visit and have a wonderful time. Decades passed, and the island is yet to see its true potential; now the present government wants to change that so that development can pave the way forward for the island.”
He continued: “I lived abroad for 43 years and I am originally from Leguan and came back and retired and this is the place I prefer to live until I pass away. Many take it for granted, but Leguan is a paradise. I am hoping that all the ministers and leaders in government take the opportunity to assist in the development of this island that will create history.”
