Five persons, including a woman, were arrested separately on Wednesday, as ranks of the Guyana Police Force conducted various marijuana raids across the country.
In detailing the operations, the police in a release noted that at about 11: 20 hrs on Wednesday February 10, police ranks, acting on information received, conducted a search on a camp at Belle Vue Village, East Bank Berbice, where 4 kilograms of marijuana were found.
Two men have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
Additionally, at about 12:00 hrs on Wednesday ranks at a police checkpoint at Itaballi conducted a search on a man in whose possession was found 894 grams of marijuana. He has been arrested and is in police custody. Charges will be made shortly.
Meanwhile, police ranks also conducted a search on a house at Tabatinga, Lethem, during which 5 kilograms of marijuana were found on Wednesday. In this case, a man and a woman were arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
