SHERLON Rodney, a 36-year-old auto mechanic of Breda and Hadfield Streets in Georgetown, appeared yesterday before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan to answer a charge that, on January 31, he unlawfully and maliciously assaulted his reputed wife, Anjali Ramjohn, after an altercation which allegedly stemmed from a heated argument.He pleaded not guilty to the charge, and, addressing the court, stated that on the day of the incident, he and his wife had a “lil argument”, and he held her by the face before taking her into the bedroom.

The prosecution made no objection to bail as it was Rodney’s first offence. He was therefore placed on self-bail and told to be of good behaviour.

The couple will return to court on February 12 to answer the matter before Magistrate Annett Singh.
