THREE brothers were on Friday arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, charged with stealing a cow. David Edwards, 52, Cleveland Edwards, 26, and Cleitus Edwards, 18, all farmers of Annai Village, North Rupununi, are alleged to have stolen the animal valued at $72,000 between January 18 and 19 at Annai Village. The trio pleaded not guilty to the theft of the animal which was the property of Randolph Wilburg.
Attorney-at-law Peter Hugh represented the siblings and made an application for his clients to be granted reasonable bail.
According to Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones, “only beef was recovered” when asked by the chief magistrate if the animal was found. He made no objection to bail.
The Edwards brothers were released on $25,000 bail each and had their matter transferred to the Lethem Magistrates Court for March 2.
