… Preparations moving apace

REGISTRATION for the Budhan Memorial Turf Club horse race meet closes tomorrow and, according to president of the club Neville Budhan, no late entries will be accepted.The meet is scheduled for this Sunday at the club’s track at No.66 Village, Corentyne.
The activity has already attracted some of the country’s top thoroughbreds to compete for millions in cash and trophies from noon.
Seven highly anticipated races are carded for the day with the feature event being the J1 and Lower.
That race will fetch the highest first prize of $200 000 and horses Red Jet, Lady Secret, De Gump, Little, Affinity, Red Regent among others will vie for the first prize.
Other races set for the day include: J3 and Lower, K2 and Lower, L1 and Lower, L2 and Lower, Three-Year-Old Guyana-bred and the Unclassified.
Meanwhile, Budhan disclosed yesterday that the club has already put most systems in place for the event.

The one-day event will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
