PRIME Minister Moses Nagamootoo has hailed the teachings of Prophet Muhammad as very pertinent ‘in the society we live in today.’
He expressed this sentiment during recent brief remarks to hundreds of Muslims at the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex, AA. The occasion was the annual Eid Milad un Nabi Programme (Youman Nabi).

Prime Minister Nagamootoo was accompanied to the event by his family. In his well-researched speech, he quoting from several historians and historic individuals, stating that the values Islam lends to the society have been recognised throughout civilisation.

He, however, cautioned that these values, brought to society by the Prophet Muhammad, cannot be taken for granted; and must be consistently taught while being vigorously protected, or else they will be lost.

He likened the values brought by the Prophet to the Guyanese multi-religious and multi-cultural society, and charged the large gathering to help protect some of this society’s basic values, including freedom of speech.

The Prime Minister also lauded the role of ACIC in the promotion of these ideals. He said ACIC is a perfect example of cohesion and promotion of the human family.

He extended greetings from the Government of Guyana to the Muslim community, and complemented the ACIC for fulfilling its role in supporting development of the Guyanese society.

Head of Dawati Islam, Birmingham, Hazrat Syed Muhammad Fuzail Attari, delivered the feature address. In his dynamic presentation, he touched on the important values Islam and the Beloved Prophet (SAS) brought to civilisation.

Hazrat Attari was accompanied to the event by two other leaders from Dawati Islam in Holland, and for the first time ever in Guyana a Milad un Nabi event has been branded with the popular flags which have featured at Milad un Nabi events worldwide.

Imam Abdool Fazeel of ACIC; Mohamed Shahid; Rafeek Khan; young Irshad Khan and Reyaud Razack, also participated in the event, which was chaired by Complex President General, Hakeem Khan.

ACIC has been in the forefront of the promotion of activities for Milad un Nabi over the years.
