Dear Mr. Editor,
THE “Pergola Promenade” was financed by the six institutions under the umbrella of the Cooperative Financial Administration during the eighties, and was dedicated to the sterling performance of the late Shirley Field-Ridley, a former minister of the government and former wife of the current mayor of Georgetown.
Over the years, it was the haven for vagrants of all sorts, and was subjected to all types of solid waste deposit, including human excrement.
I have noticed that in the recent clean-up exercise of the Merriman Mall, this structure seems to have been deliberately deserted by municipal authorities, as grass and other unsightly debris can still be seen desecrating this edifice.
The Mayor and his City Councillors ought to hang their heads in shame, as they certainly cannot have any excuse for not maintaining this monument over the years.
Come on folks, let’s get on with the job.
Sincerely yours
ALEX EDWARDS
