CLARE Thomas, an orderly at the Suddie Hospital on the Essequibo Coast, on Wednesday received a cheque for $1M from the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT) at its outlet at the Fogarty’s Building in Georgetown.Expecting to win at some point in time, but not that much money, Thomas said her win was the first from the telephone giant.

The draw on Wednesday represented the last in the competition, and was filled with much hype and excitement.
GTT Public Relations Officer Nadia De Abreu said the company is pleased to spread holiday cheer far and wide, as winners were drawn from throughout the country.
The final draw saw 16 winners, who together pocketed a total of $6.8M in cash from the phone company. On November 28, the company began giving customers the chance to win $50,000 daily as part of its promotion. The promotion required customers to answer their phones saying “I Can Do More with GTT” when calls were placed live from the studios of 98.1FM. A lone winner pocketed $300,000.
