Pretender remanded

COLLIN Peters, a member of the City Constabulary until last October, when he was dismissed on grounds of bad conduct and absenteeism, was remanded by City Magistrate Alex Moore after being arraigned before him charged with obtaining by false pretense. The charge alleges that on December 16, at the Treasury Department of City Hall, Peters, with intent to defraud, obtained from Ajoda Persaud Republic Bank cheques for $58,400 by falsely pretending that he was a serving member of the City Constabulary.
Particulars of the case detail that Peters went to the Treasury Department, produced his identification card, signed the document and uplifted the cheques from Ms Persaud, pretending he was an acting service member of the constabulary when he was not entitled to any such payment from his former employer.
He is expected to make his next court appearance on January 22, 2016.
