…- Seaton and Persaud impress
TEAM Guyana returned home safely from Suriname’s VOS 2015 Invitational Swim meet where they scored a total of 15 medals.Unfortunately, only the host nation Suriname and Guyana were the competing teams since no other country attended. Nine of those medals are Gold, four are Silver and two are Bronze.
Leon Seaton was outstanding with four individual Gold medal performances and a Silver one, which he captured in the 200m freestyle relay alongside team mates Raekwon Noel, Randy Potter and Ejaz Mohamed.
Seaton secured Gold in the 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 100m Individual Medley (IM).
Meanwhile, Aleka Persuad had an equally impressive meet for the females as she copped four individual Gold medals in the 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 100m (IM).
Trumaine Cole accounted for the other Gold medal with victory in the Male 100m freestyle.
According to Seaton, who was also the Team Manager, all the other swimmers did their best improving their times and gained experience, keeping with the focus of developmental swim meets.
He added that Suriname complimented team Guyana for the level of competition display and has requested an invitation to a local meet in Guyana in 2016, a request that will be taken into consideration by the Federation and swim clubs.
