Tony’s Auto Spares (TAS) on Saturday handed over a $3 million Mazda RX-8 sports car to a Bartician who was announced the winner of its 2015 promotion. Ayube Khan said he usually visits the company’s Light Street, Georgetown branch to make various purchases, but he never expected to actually win anything in the promotion.
The pleasantly shocked Khan noted that he had purchased some truck seals sometimes ago and decided to fill out the usual coupons – a flippant process that would not win him anything, he thought at the time.
Khan said he may be the third person to own a Mazda RX-8 sports car in Bartica and he plans to make good use of it.
Thirteen other persons received various prizes from the company. The winners, who reside in various parts of the country, including Berbice and Linden, include Alex Grant, Joel Londle, V. Pitamber, Leroy Recce, Mahendra Tulsie, H. Parris, Vickram Singh, Somdat Jagdeo, Gopaul Jailall, Alana Fiffee, and Richard Shew.
Manager of Tony’s Auto Spares, Suresh Singh, said the year was not as vibrant as expected but in 2016 the company is planning to give away a better vehicle based on customers’ support.
In order to win in this year’s competition, customers spending $8,000 or more at Tony’s Light Street, Alberttown, Georgetown branch or at the company’s new branch at Le Ressouvenir, East Coast Demerara were given a coupon and the winners were picked.
Last year, an East Coast Demerara resident walked away with one Nissan March Motor Car as part of the company’s dual car promotion which it plans to host annually.
The Marketing Manager Troy Edmonson said the company will also be collaborating with other entities to further give back to loyal customers in the future.
He noted that most people know that Mazda builds sports cars. But for some, it’s the company’s history of building true sports cars with lightweight rotary engines that sets it apart from the competition. The Mazda RX-8 was one of these models.
Edmondson explained that the promotion is part of TAS’ 25 year celebration and comes on the heels of last year’s promotion.
