Keep away from accuser
A 24-year-old porter attached to the Guyana National Industrial Company Inc. (GNIC) was yesterday released on $75,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan pending a wounding charge.Nico Shawn Thomas of 17 Broad and Lombard Streets, Charlestown pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Orlando Klass.
Police prosecutor Deniro Jones did not relate the facts to the court. However, Klass who was present in court, had a bandaged head and strips of plaster along his left hand.
The Chief Magistrate granted the porter bail, and ordered him to keep a distance of more than 50 feet from the victim. He is scheduled to return to court on January 15 for statements.
