BARBADOS Pride enter today’s third day of their fifth- round regional four-day match against the Leeward Isalnds Hurricanes in a commanding position, having taken a 198-run first innings lead.Replying to Barbados’s first innings of 368, the Hurricanes were blown away for 170 just before the close of the second day at the Kensington Oval, Barbados.
Barbados were indebted to a fine, undefeated 136 from middle-order batsman Roston Chase, who had resumed on his overnight 95.
With wickets tumbling around him, Chase maintained his composure, slamming 20 fours in his brilliant, unbeaten knock. Jonathan Carter (54) and Kevin Stoute (41) also played useful innings.
The Hurricanes were undone by the spin/pace combination of Ashley Nurse, who claimed five for 65 and Miguel Cummins four for 18 in an impressive 13 overs.
Sherwin Peters (44) and Chesney Hughes (32) were the main run-getters for the Hurricanes.
