THE Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs has given 20,000 garbage bags to the Georgetown Municipality at a simple presentation held at City Hall.President of the association, Jason Wong said “the association has observed the ongoing clean-up exercise and the gradual transformation that is taking place in the city’s environs”.
Wong noted that Chinese businesses contribute significantly to the economic activities in the city and it is therefore important that they play a part in the cleaning initiative.
He further stated that as garbage bags are used in the clean-up exercise the association decided to make the special contribution to help in the cleaning programme.
Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Patricia Chase-Green said that she was happy to receive the contribution on behalf of the City Council and noted that the council is working assiduously to restore Georgetown to its former glory.
“It is important that all stakeholders; citizens, businesses and the municipality work together to realise the vision to make Georgetown the cleanest, greenest city in the Caribbean,” she said
