TAXI driver Adray Adel of Mahaicony was yesterday remanded by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan after he appeared before her charged with possession of narcotics.It is alleged that, on December 3, 2015 at Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, he had in his possession 76.600 kilograms of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

The 26-year-old father of one was remanded until January 7, 2016, when the matter comes up for report and fixture.

Police Prosecutor Jones, in his submission to the court, stated that the drug was found on the car with number plate PRR 6205, which the defendant was driving. He was the only person in the car when the narcotics were found.
According to the defence counsel, his client had no knowledge of the drug, and during the process of his work he was stopped and the drugs were found in the vehicle.
