A PICKUP driver was remanded to prison yesterday by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for allegedly causing the death of seventeen-year-old motorcyclist Travis Bollers at Pike and Sheriff Streets last month.

Delon Duncan, 35, of 982 Block F, North Sophia denied the allegation that on November 26 at Pike and Sheriff Streets, he drove motor vehicle GHH 5201 in a manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the death of Bollers.

He also denied the charge that on the same occasion he drove the motor vehicle without being the holder of an insurance policy in relation to third party risks.

Additionally, he was charged for failing to stop the vehicle after the accident and failing to report the accident to the relevant authorities.

Finally, he was charged for failing to offer assistance by taking the injured Bollers to receive treatment at a medical facility.

The court heard that the vehicle involved in the accident was discovered six days later at an auto-body shop in Sophia.

It was argued by Defence Attorney Mark Conway that the accused had turned himself into the police, albeit six days later, and as such he requested bail for his client.

However, bail was denied on the causing death charge while the other matters were transferred to Court 7. Duncan will return to court on December 29.

On November 26 Bollers was riding a motorcycle along Sheriff Street with his cousin Quacy McCalman on the pillion when a vehicle sped out of Pike Street and collided with them. The driver reportedly exited the pickup and after seeing the two youths bleeding on the roadway made a getaway. Bollers died while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
