THE battle between the villages of Agricola and Grove will intensify a notch higher on the football field today with the conclusion of the STAG-sponsored East Bank Football Association (EBFA) 7 a-side competition at the Grove Playfield.It will be a hectic day of action as the SUNBURST/EBFA Under-17 competition will also see two matches being contested.

The first Stag 7 a-side semi-final match which kicks off at 13:30 hrs following an Under-17 match between Herstelling Raiders and Mocha Champs at 12:00 hrs will pit against the B teams of Agricola Red Triangle and Grove Hi-Tech.

Grove B will be led by Travis Jones, Akeem James, Lloyd Matthews, Mervin Squires, Nickolai Matthews, Ceon Simpson in goal, Denzil Crawford, William Lupe and Kevin Dalton.

Agricola B will pin their hopes for a place in the final and a chance to challenge for the top prize of $100,000 on the likes of Sheldon Chapman, Collis Samuels, Akeem Pompey, Akeem Rollins, Perry Gomes, Lionel Rover, Bilall Jabar and Brian Price.

The loser of this encounter will qualify for the third place playoff. The second semi-final which will commence immediately after will see the A Teams of the two clubs locking horns. These two villages have always served up entertaining showdowns and today’s matches will be no different; they just don’t like losing to each other.

Grove A challenge to advance further will be carried by Sherman Doris, Michael Matthews, Orson Francois, Romel Matthews, Joel Dick, Devon Joseph, Colin Lancaster and Kevin Padmore.

Leading the charge for Agricola A will be Shemroy Kendall, Winston Rollins, Gordon Grant, Noel Punch, Devon Baptiste, Jermaine Frank and Travis Welch.

The winning team will walk away with $100,000 with the second place team collecting $75,000. Third and fourth place attract $50,000 and $25,000 respectively, while the highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper and MVP will all be rewarded with $10,000 each.
