Jamaica Scorpions reach 114 for two in reply to Barbados Pride 373

… Leeward Islands Hurricanes struggling at 55 for four

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, – (www.bcacricket.org) – Jamaica Scorpions were 114 for two off 37.3 overs in reply to a first innings total of 373 all out off 139.3 overs by Barbados Pride at the close of play on the second day of the first round WICB PCL first-class match at Kensington Oval, yesterday.

The not out batsmen were Kirk Edwards on 51 and Andre McCarthy, nine.

Edwards reached his half-century in 143 minutes off 120 balls with six boundaries shortly before fading light ended play at 5:17 p.m.

He was dropped on 38 at silly point by Kyle Corbin off left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican with the score 88 for one in the 30th, while McCarthy was put down second ball before he had scored by wicket-keeper Shane Dowrich off medium-pacer Kevin Stoute in the 31st over.

Skipper and left-hander Paul Palmer, playing to the on-side, was leg before wicket by a full length ball from fast bowler Miguel Cummins for nought (10-1; 1.1 overs).

And left-hander John Campbell, groping outside the off stump, was caught by Dowrich off Stoute for 49 (88-2; 30.4 overs).

After Barbados resumed yesterday on 262 for two off 96 overs, captain and opener Kraigg Brathwaite topscored with 119 from his overnight 111. He batted for 401 minutes, faced 314 balls and struck nine fours.

Left-arm spinner Nikita Miller was the leading wicket-taker with four for 100 off 53 overs, while fast bowler Jason Dawes took three for 51 off 18 overs. The second new ball was taken at the start of play.
Meanwhile, in the other match being played at Warner Park , St, Kitts, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes were struggling at the end of day two on 55 for four in reply to T&T Red Force 325 all out of which Steven Katwaroo top scored with 71 , Evin Lewis hit 66, Narsingh Deonarine 55 and Yannic Carriah 50.. Bowling for Leewards Rahkeem Cornwall took 3 for 72 and Gavin Tonge 2 for 53.
